Upskilling@Work

Project description

Upskilling@Work is a funded operation supported by the European Social Fund through the Welsh Government. It is designed to enhance skills and increase productivity in the workplace, providing opportunities for employers in South East Wales to gain accredited qualifications for their workforce.

Up to 70% funding is available to upskill employees in the workplace through accredited qualifications in a range of subjects, across all sectors. Part or full qualifications can be supported.

The operation offers a wide range of accredited courses from Entry level to level 6.  Courses provide a range of qualifications including NVQs, ILMs, City and Guilds, Edexcel etc.  Courses can be full qualifications or shorter, modular courses.  Subjects include, although not limited to, regional priority sectors including Construction, Health & Social Care, Hospitality & Catering, Engineering, ICT, Business Administration and Customer Service from Level 1 to Level 6.

Geographical coverage

Upskilling@Work operates in both Communities First and non-Communities First localities of the two programme areas:

  • West Wales and the Valleys – Bridgend, RCT, Caerphilly, Merthyr Tydfil, Blaenau Gwent, Torfaen
  • East Wales – Monmouth, Newport, Cardiff, Vale of Glamorgan and Powys

Essential eligibility criteria

Any business, large or small, public or private, charities and sole traders operating in these local authority areas qualify for the programme.

Specific targets

To upskill employees with low or no qualifications up to Level 2 and / or provide technical skills to those at Level 3 to 6.
