Focus Futures

Sep 30, 2022

Focus Futures, delivered by Business in Focus is funded by the UK Government’s Community Renewal Fund support local people to ‘build back better’.

This project has been developed to support local people to develop their skills and confidence to further their entrepreneurial goals, return to the workplace, as well as support businesses that are struggling following the Covid-19 pandemic.

Some examples of the achievements to date across the Cardiff Capital Region:

  • They have supported a local man to develop a waste management service for domestic and commercial clients. To ensure he has a sustainable income, he was assisted in using his vehicles to provide HGV services to local hauliers through a referral service, and introduced to the Sell2Wales platform to find opportunities across the public sector.
  • Supported a Bridgend resident looking to establish a salvage yard to process metals and sell parts online or export to African/Middle Eastern countries. They’re also considering storage for shipping containers, for which the project is assisting them to access a Start Up Loan.
  • A local man has received support to launch own scaffolding business having worked across the industry for over 20 years. The business aims to grow and develop over the next 12-24 months, offering further employment opportunities and additional investment.  The support also included the recommendation of sourcing Public Procurement opportunities.

The project is looking to support more individuals and businesses throughout the region, so if you are interested, please see their details below:
