Data Innovation Accelerator (DIA)

Project description

The Data Innovation Accelerator (DIA) at Cardiff University helps SMEs in East Wales to use their data better. Filling a gap in the current data ecosystem in Wales, the Data Innovation Accelerator seeks to systematically build data science awareness, capacity and skills within Welsh SMEs. We help them identify and realise the power of their data and embrace it in their future activities. We work collaboratively with companies to apply data science techniques to produce tangible benefits for the business.

Delivery model

The DIA builds data science awareness, capacity and skills within SMEs. It will carry out:

  • ‘Data innovation health checks’ to explore and analyse companies’ data profile, identify opportunities for analysis and engineering of data for benefit to the business
  • Collaborative research and development projects with companies, to contribute to business growth by supporting the development of new products, services or processes.

Geographical coverage

The DIA can support SMEs based in East Wales (Vale of Glamorgan, Cardiff, Newport, Monmouthshire, Powys, Wrexham, Flintshire).
