Energy reduction plans for the CCR

Sep 17, 2021

A CCR Energy Steering Board has been established, representing organisations such as the South Wales Industrial Cluster, Natural Resources Wales, and the ten local authorities, in addition to four critical priority work streams (Transport, Domestic, Industrial and Commercial and Renewables).  Over the summer, in partnership with the Carbon Trust, workshops have been held to help crystallise an action plan and future roadmap which ultimately will involve a series of interventions to ensure we are on track to reduce emissions from our energy system by 55% by 2035 and net-zero by 2050.

In June the Regional Cabinet agreed to commit to the global Race to Zero campaign, and to sign up to the Carbon Disclosure Project, a worldwide environmental disclosure system that helps cities, regions and companies disclose their environmental data and impact.

Full cabinet endorsement was also given in June for CCR to sign up to the Carbon Disclosure Project, a worldwide environmental disclosure system that helps cities, regions and companies disclose their environmental data and impact.
