A package of support for farmers, foresters, land managers and food businesses worth over £227 million over the next three financial years has been announced by Lesley Griiffiths MS, Minister for Rural Affairs and North Wales, and Trefnydd. The funding will support the resilience of the rural economy and our natural environment, helping to build a new, green economy. The programme will provide continuity of support for actions previously funded through the EU Rural Development Programme.
The funding will be delivered through a flexible framework that will complement the development of the Sustainable Farming Scheme, across the following themes:
The Sustainable Farming Scheme will reward farmers who take action to respond to the climate emergency and reverse the decline of biodiversity.
A number of schemes with a total value of over £100m will be opening for applications over the next few months, with further schemes to be launched following further engagement with partners.
