Project description
Supporting the health and wellbeing of staff and small to medium sized businesses in Rhondda Cynon Taf.
Led by Rhondda, Cynon Taf County Borough Council, Staying Well at Work offers support to MSME’s within RCT to ensure all those employed in the Local Authority area have access to equitable ‘in work’ support services which pay particular attention to the wellbeing needs of individuals and the development of supportive Policies.
Staying Well at Work offers a proactive and integrated approach which supports the prevention of physical and mental ill health, whilst supporting rehabilitation and the management of long-term conditions. We provide clinical support to improve daily functioning and symptom management to enable people to return to or continue to work.
The project aims to provide Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises with Human Resource support to develop Absence and Equality and Diversity Policies, and in doing so the Project aims to improve the conditions of people’s employment and provide individuals with support from a full range of Occupational Health Specialists.
Delivery model
Support for SMEs
- Expert HR advice to support to develop or improve wellbeing, equality and diversity policies and strategies.
- An agreed Action Plan and Review to identify and monitor areas for improvement
- HR and Occupational health advice on managing complex health cases in the workplace.
- Training on managing mental health and wellbeing in the workplace.
- Workplace health programmes
Support for individuals
- Access to occupational health nurses for advice on the impact of work on health and health on work.
- Access to physiotherapists for advice and treatment in relation to a range of musculoskeletal conditions.
- Counselling and therapeutic support for individuals experiencing a range of mental health conditions.
- As well as 1 to 1 support the service offers access to group workshops to help address a range of Health and Wellbeing issues.
We offer consultations virtually, via telephone and face to face in the communities of Mountain Ash and Ferndale for counselling and Pontypridd for physiotherapy.
Geographical coverage
The project works across the Rhondda Cynon Taf local authority area.
Essential eligibility criteria
Businesses must be:
- Small and medium sized business, employing less than 250 people
- Located in the Local Authority area of Rhondda, Cynon, Taf.
Individuals must be:
- Self Employed or employed in a SME Business (less than 250 employees)
- Individuals must be 18 plus
- Individuals must either live or work in RCT
- Individuals must consider themselves to have a disability or work limiting health condition such as a physical condition for example a joint or muscle problem such as back pain or psychological condition such as sleep issues, low mood, anxiety, bereavement/loss etc.
Specific targets
SMEs will be supported to adopt or improve equality and diversity strategies and monitoring systems
Individuals will be supported to return to work after a period of absence or to remain in work.
