Project description
The Journey 2 Work operation aims to increase the employability of Economically Inactive and Long Term Unemployed people aged 25 and over, who have complex barriers to employment within the South East Wales region. The focus of the operation will be to target those furthest from the labour market that are not receiving support from other programmes or initiatives, with a focus on those in non-Communities First /Communities For Work areas.
Delivery model
Journey to Work provides:
- A comprehensive support package to those furthest from the labour market
- Identification of barriers and assessment of need
- Access to a range of qualifications
- Employment support including CV writing, interview skills, careers advice and job searching
- Opportunities to gain work experience through placements and volunteering
- Tracking of distance travelled and progress towards operational outcomes
Geographical coverage
The project works in non-communities first areas of Cardiff, Newport and Monmouthshire
Essential eligibility criteria
- Long Term Unemployed or Economically Inactive
- Aged 25 years or older
- Living outside of a Communities First area
Specific targets
Economically Inactive
- Gain employment or self-employment
- Engage in job search activities
- Gain a qualification or work relevant certification
- Complete a work experience placement or volunteering opportunity
Long Term Unemployed
